MICROBALANCE is our test based on the analysis of 16S rRNA gene, the DNA sequence encoding the smaller ribosome subunit of bacterial rRNA. Individuals are provided with a kit for stool sampling and transport, which is then sent to the laboratories of BIOSCIENCE GENOMICS for bacterial DNA extraction and 16S rRNA gene library preparation. The 16S rRNA gene is then sequenced by Next Generation Sequencing with the ION S5TM System (Thermo Fisher Scientific). The sequences obtained undergo bioinformatic analysis. The output does not represent the diagnosis of pathology, but a personalized microbiota profile allowing physicians and nutritionists to identify the ideal food plan, and the lifestyle adjustments needed to correct the detected imbalances or to improve the microbiota composition.
